Welcome to our blog! This will be a place where you can reflect on what you have learned in our sessions in the classroom. To get us started, think about our sessions on the phonemic chart and pronunciation, the "What is Art" lesson, and today's session on integrating technology, and share one or two thoughts on how you might use/adapt these in your own teaching context. Then read the posts and comment on at least two. I look forward to reading your ideas!
I went over today's lesson. I'll try to write about what I learned.
ReplyDeleteSilent discussion
Silent discussion is a method that students discuss things without talkng on a big paper.
Benefits
☆Shy students don't hesitate to speak in silent.
☆Fluency may be important, but students can more easily learn some expressions they wrote by heart.
☆It's like Instant Messenger. It's fun♪
☆This method creates a visual record of student's thought. It makes easier for the teacher to give feedback to student.
When can I use it?
☆After reading a textbook and acquiring new vocabulary, students can discuss a topic related with the reading material↑in silence.
Thank you for contributing to our blog, Mizue! I'm glad you enjoyed our silent discussion in class today. I think your idea of using it as a way of activating language and ideas after reading an article or course book text is a great one. I think visual learners also enjoy seeing the "conversation" written down, especially if they are using coloured pens.
DeleteFiona, thank you for your fantastic lesson and comment! Oh,"activating language and ideas"!
ReplyDeleteI'll use this nice expression from now on!
That's what we do, isn't it? I sometimes think that our job is a bit like being a sports coach, trying to activate our students and encouraging them to do their best.
